Driving along Interstate 10, we saw our first sign for a winery in Arizona and thought….why not? We could taste our way across the US! So….Erin did some research and found some in each state, except for Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. Those three states have wineries, but they were too far off our path. 😦 Still, we figured we could have some fun and made the decision to stop when we could.
Coronado Vineyards was our first stop. We tasted a large list of wines for $10/person and received a lovely full size stemless glass to keep. The gift shop is really fun too!
New Mexico brought us to La Vina Winery, the oldest winery in New Mexico. They were very busy, with lots of families enjoying a nice Sunday afternoon. There is a tasting fee, but they also offer a free tasting of any one wine, so we choose to do that, as we had a long drive ahead of us still.
Just across the border in Texas, we arrived at Zin Valle Vineyards in Canutillo. This winery was literally just down the road from La Vina…so easy to visit two in one day!
Finally on our last day, we made it to Chautauqua Vineyard & Winery in Defuniak Springs, Florida. They are open 7 days a week and offer free tastings. Well worth the visit!
Thanks for traveling with us! On your next road trip, visit as many wineries as you can. It’s worth the detour!
